Have you heard?
Tonight this neighbor of mine comes to my door holding a bunch of daffodils. Sweet! Then she tells me about Daffodil Days. It is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
She told me that these daffodils are to provide a ray of hope for those living with cancer.
I sure wish we didn't have to have cancer at our house but we do and that was so thoughtful and definitely brought some sunshine in on this first day of spring.
So, had I known about Daffodil Days, I would have purchased some daffodils and passed them out because cancer or not - we all know people with it and could use a little ray of hope. Consider these your daffodils.
A side note - I have been working on a lesson for Sunday about Pres. Eyring's talk called O, Remember, Remember. (October 2007 General Conference) He suggests that we keep a record of how we have seen the hand of the Lord in our daily lives. He tells us to do this for our children so that someday they will know.
After I got these flowers it occurred to me that I want my children to know how thoughtful and good people are. I want them to know how blessed we have been through this cancer. We have seen the hand of the Lord often through other people's kindness. The kids don't understand that Kenyon has cancer but someday they will and they will need or want to know what this experience is to us and what it means to have seen the hand of the Lord in our lives.

Help Someday Help
I have had so many projects. It is fun but super time consuming. I loved making this scalloped blanket. I got the pattern from a cool book called Bend-the-Rules of Sewing by Amy Carol. Thanks to another blog (thanks April) I saw this super cute floral fabric that can be found at JoAnns. I didn't think you could find anything super cute at JoAnn's so I was very happy. Then I found the orange polka dot from Amy Butler at Material Girls. I know it isn't very baby girlish but I liked it. I just gave it to a darling baby named Ava.
I tried another diaper bag with a few adjustments. I think it still needs a few more tweaks and next I think I just want to try a different shape altogether. But, I loved the texture of this fabric. I gave a friend of mine a diaper bag 3 years ago and she has used to to shreds. I noticed how worn it was the other day so I took her this one. It needed to be updated. The scary thing is that you don't want to impose a diaper bag on someone. Everyone is so particular about what they want to carry around.
The biggest and most stressful project of all is putting on an 8 year old birthday party. Magic themed. The birthday boy insisted that I MAKE magic capes. Who does that? I guess I do. They turned out good after a few tears and some stress. We had 9 crazy boys over and filled 2 hours with magic potions, tricks, games and food. I think everyone was happy. I was worn out.

Birthday Boy!
So today my first child turns 8! I am freaking out. I am not really ready for that. He is so excited. This is such a typical picture of him - always ducking out, trying to hide, or doing something silly. He has the cutest smile with the best dimple. I wish he would let me take his picture more often.
Yesterday he told me that he knows what he wants to be when he grows up. "Mom, I want to be a McDonalds Man when I grow up?" Oh really! Why? "They make $28 an hour!!" So there you have it...Teague the McDonalds Man. I think he has been inspired by his friends dad who is a McDonalds Man.
Today is also his first day of Cub Scouts and he couldn't be happier. Last night I sat down with him to study is Wolf Handbook (I don't know a single thing about scouting). He is ready to go - if he had his way we would have stayed up all night passing off as many things as possible. I let him get as far as memorizing the Cub Scout Promise. Go scouting!
To top the birthday celebration off, he is having a magic party and guess which crazy mom just made ELEVEN black and red capes? Yep, Me the crazy one. Who does that? Why couldn't we just go to classic skate and call it good?
I will post some pictures after the big event.
Anyway - Happy Birthday to My First Boy! I love him. He is funny, super smart, talented and very thoughtful.
Yummy Food in SLC
Last week I went out with some friends to two YUMMY places not far from each other. My friend, Amy, introduced us to Zinn Bistro (2000 East and 3300 South ish). It is a cute little restaurant with amazing food. The owner makes it fresh every day. After you sit down they bring you a huge basket full of pasteries. It is really unbelievable. Then you get a big ol plate of deliciousness. We were so full. My only warning is that it is not cheap (plan to spend about $15 a person plus tip). It is the perfect place for a girls lunch. After stuffing ourselves silly - I made them all go to the cute place - So Cupcake. We each picked out a cupcake but I don't think any of us could eat it for hours. But, when I finally did eat my So High the Moon Lemon cupcake, I was in love. Just like being back in NYC. Hooray for pretty cupcakes that taste yummy.
Go ahead try it out.

Bag Tag
So here it is - I have been tagged - not once but several times. I think Hilary, Cheryl and now Jul. I better do something about it. They are all different so I might tackle each one but for now I will do the shortest one. Bag Tag.
First, let me say. I want a new bag and also that I am not proud of what my bag looks like inside so I am not showing you (but you should if I tag you).
I have had two incredible trips to NYC. Both times I have bought a bag and both times I wish I had bought the bag that the other person got. Juliann got this great slouchy white purse and my sister Jen got this white tall bag with excellent hardware. My choices were ok but next time (when is the next time I will be in NYC?), I am going to have someone else pick the bag they like and then I am getting it. (maybe I should buy white and not green?)
I would really love to have the money to buy a bag from Tano. They have some great bags.
I also really like to make bags. This bibi bag for sale on TinyMcSmall is so cool. I need to figure out how to make it. I am loving it. (I learned about this from my friend Juliann's friend April).
But so back to the Bag Tag ---So my bag is green and I am bored with it. But more than that I hate the inside. There are no dividers and so it is forever a mess. Receipts everywhere that I should actually do something with, gum wrappers that my kids stuff in there, water bottles, note paper, scraps of scrapbook paper, Bath and Body Works Vanilla lotion, hand sanitizer, my phone, redbox coupons, fabric store coupons, grocery lists, some extra sudoku pages, random pens, and my wallet. I want to be better - really I do. So there you have it. My bag....Anyone want to go to NY and get a new bag with me?
OH - and I tag Jane, Kristine, and Heidi (her bag will be very organized)

Star Valley Weekend
Our friends the Spevaks took us to their friend's cabin in Star Valley, Wyoming. It was such a fabulous weekend. Super relaxing and fun. The kids loved snowmobiling. They were most happy riding behind in the sled. We ate good and played lots of games and just chilled - well not literally - we were warm most of the time. The weather was perfect just until it was time to pack up and go home. Someday we would love to own a cabin and snowmobiles. Good times.
