Random Mother's Day Photos

Jane and Kristine are pretty much obsessed with all things Quinn. And I love it. How could you not be? Really. She is pretty squishy and slobbery and smiley. Hard to resist. Thanks for being such cute aunts. They brought gorgeous flowers, fruit, salad, and treats for me. By the way - Sophie the Giraffe that Quinn is holding is pretty much the coolest toy I have ever bought and I just might buy it for you if you are having a baby. Quinn and I both LOVE it.

I mostly just want you to notice that I have gorgeous sisters and I am inspired to do a little work on my appearance. Looking a little worn. But I really want you to notice this cute little brooch that Gavin made for me. Love it.

Do you like our Sabbath day activity? A pediatrician or ER docs worst nightmare!

I loved this idea on Stephmodo and so I had to copy. These little vases were $1 at Target. Go get some. They are so perfect.

And lastly - but most importantly - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY. I wish I was in Italy with my Mom. She is living the good life. :) She is the best mom. She continues to teach and inspire me. I want to be like her. Check out this super cute picture of her as kiddo.

Tulip Festival

Today for my birthday I had a little outing to the the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival. Actually the "festival" is over but the tulips are still going strong and will probably just get better. The weather was amazing. Warm and pleasant and the slightest hint of pink on your arms at the end of the day. I don't know how many times I have been to the gardens - too many times to count and every time the kids and I love it. Special thanks to Aimee and her kids for always being up for an adventure at the gardens. Once again - I took my camera and did not take any pictures. How lame can I be?

I also had one of my favorite lunches from Rumbi's - South Seas Chicken Salad. Thanks Sunni. She was so nice to bring me lunch - we couldn't leave because my new kitchen table came today. It is beautiful and I am so excited to finally have it.

Today was a good day - so many nice phone calls and visits and thoughtful little gifts. Last year I think I cried half the day. So no tears today was a huge improvement. I finished out the day with a yummy Golden Veggie H at Hires with my family and our friends the Weeks. Maybe being 34 won't be so bad.

I shouldn't forget to mention that my kids made me a cute little present out of scrap wood in the garage that they glued together. Then they helped themselves to my wrapping paper and ribbons and did quite the job wrapping it all up.

--Oh and we saw Karen and Alan Ashton (founders of Thanksgiving Point) ??? around Thanksgiving Point on those cool Segways. What is the proper adjective for what you do when you are on a Segway - gliding, rolling, scooting?

Tonight this neighbor of mine comes to my door holding a bunch of daffodils. Sweet! Then she tells me about Daffodil Days. It is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.



She told me that these daffodils are to provide a ray of hope for those living with cancer.

I sure wish we didn't have to have cancer at our house but we do and that was so thoughtful and definitely brought some sunshine in on this first day of spring.

So, had I known about Daffodil Days, I would have purchased some daffodils and passed them out because cancer or not - we all know people with it and could use a little ray of hope. Consider these your daffodils.

A side note - I have been working on a lesson for Sunday about Pres. Eyring's talk called O, Remember, Remember. (October 2007 General Conference) He suggests that we keep a record of how we have seen the hand of the Lord in our daily lives. He tells us to do this for our children so that someday they will know.

After I got these flowers it occurred to me that I want my children to know how thoughtful and good people are. I want them to know how blessed we have been through this cancer. We have seen the hand of the Lord often through other people's kindness. The kids don't understand that Kenyon has cancer but someday they will and they will need or want to know what this experience is to us and what it means to have seen the hand of the Lord in our lives.
