Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society sponsors Relay for Life events in towns throughout the country. It is an opportunity to bring people together to celebrate survivors and those fighting cancer. Our friends the Jamiesons decided to get involved and start Relay for Life in Riverton. It the first year. Their little boy, Jake, was diagnosed with leukemia last year. They have been such great examples to us. It has been a tough battle but Jake is doing so well.

The event is held throughout the night - August 7-8th at Riverton High School. Please check out our team page. The money raised helps the American Cancer Society.

You can check out Relay For Life events in your own area.

Start your own team.

Donate (to anyone on our team).
Donate for a lumanaria.
Join our team.
Or just come that night. There will be booths and some entertainment. And you can cheer on those participating.

**Another event coming up on October 2nd is Light The Night. This event takes place at Sugar House park. It is specifically for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It is a 2 mile walk celebrating those fighting blood cancers and honoring those who have died. The money goes to great research helping people like Kenyon. The LLS has been very good to us and we are so greatful for all they do. Feel free to join us that night as well. I will get a team together for that event as well.

Sewing Camp

My sister, Kristine,
is starting a summer sewing camp for girls 10 and older. They will love it and so will you. Kristine is a talented and creative teacher. You will love what they learn and make. Feel free to spread the word. There are limited spots in each class so that each girl will be able to spend time on the machines and get the help they need to complete their projects.

You can see some of her amazing creations here and here and here and here.

Pre-Reunion Shots

A few other pictures from the trip can be found here and here.

Seattle's Tribute to MJ

On our second day in Seattle, my mom and I took the kids on a little trip down to the Science Center (at the base of the Space Needle). On that same property is that EMP (Experience Music Project). They had a little tribute to Michael Jackson going on. The pavement was covered with writings in chalk from everyone coming by to honor him.

Just so you know- I used to be a big fan. I had the trading cards, school folder, cassette tapes. Good times.

Best Recipe EVER

I think it is my most favorite treat (thanks Jane and Kristine). By the way - my next new favorite recipe is homemade kettle corn (thanks Jane). Good thing my raspberry bushes aren't producing yet. Next summer could be dangerous.

It couldn't be easier. But, it requires a toaster oven. If you don't own one - you should. Microwave s'mores are not good. S'mores around the campfire are fun but not quite the same.

Raspberry S'mores
2 graham crackers
handful of marshmallows
handful of chocolate chips
a few fresh raspberries.

Toast with marshmallows and chocolate chips. Add raspberries and smash together.

Divine!!!

PS - Those raspberries came from my CSA order. Love it. If you don't know about CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) check it out here. We pick up our fresh produce once a week. I hope I get raspberries for a few more weeks. :)
